Off To The Zoo!

Room 11 Zoo Trip

What a good day it was! We got to see all sorts of animals, from elephants and giraffes, to spiders and native New Zealand birds. 

We learned a lot about our native birds from the zoo expert John. He taught us about the Kiwi and the size of their eggs (which are almost as big as the mother Kiwi that lays them!) and how to spot them in the dark.

We were lucky enough to visit the elephants just as the zookeepers were showing the audience how they lift and move logs and how they clean themselves...

...and of course to end the day we had a run around the playground to get rid of any extra energy we had!

 Room 11 learned new ways of solving multiplication and division problems this week that make it easier!

 In Room 11 we are using our repeated addition to solve tricky multiplication problems, and repeated subtraction to solve those mind-boggling division questions.

Introducing The Squad

The squad prepped and ready for Term Two! What an impression bunch!

Room 11 visited the Tamaki Box and were updated on the construction and housing work in progress throughout the Glen Innes area. We learned about the parties involved in the project and their goals for making housing in Glen Innes better for the community. 

Term One Swimming Comps!

Room 11 poised and ready, waiting for that whistle to start off their race! Two students from Room 11 competed in the year 4 freestyle race and placed 1st and 2nd! Wohoo! A proud moment for all Room 11 students who's cheered loudly behind them. Well done!  

Wednesday Sport with Sport Auckland Term One

Sport Auckland swooped into Term One with badminton! Room 11 had lots of fun working with Kylie and learned lots of new skills used in badminton
